Studio Ghibli Film Festivals in North America
GKids, the company that holds the theatrical rights to Ghibli films in North America, is doing a bunch of Ghibli retrospectives all over the country (and Canada too). It’s pretty exciting! Right now, there’s one festival going on in Austin, Texas at the Alamo Drafthouse. Here’s some info. They’re playing Spirited Away, Laputa, My Neighbor Totoro, and Nausicaa. But only for this month and a couple days in March.
There’s also another festival coming up in Toronto, running from March to April, and they’ll be playing 15 of Studio Ghibli’s films. This is a great opportunity to see these wonderful movies on the big screen, especially considering some of them have never even been released in North America.
Other festivals later this year will possibly be happening in Washington, D.C., Seattle, Chicago, and San Francisco. And there’ll be more to come! :)
